The Blazer has had numerous iterations since its 1969 debut and after a 10-year hiatus, it's back. This car-based version may offend some purists, but frankly this is what the market wants.

Today's Blazer is a two-row, five-passenger midsize CUV with strong, masculine proportions, which means tall door frames and sleek windows. The wide, confident stance translate to an obedient, responsive ride and handling on dry pavement. On-the-fly adjustable AWD modes via a readily accessible dial assist in wet/snow/mud. The interior is lifted directly from the Chevy Camaro, in a good way, coupled with intuitive technology. Towing capacity is 4,500 pounds (estimate) and Chevy’s handy trailering package is available on V-6 AWD models.

There are two engine offerings mated to the nine-speed transmission: a 2.5L in-line 4-cylinder, and a beefy 3.6L V-6. Chevy is offering three "distinct personalities," with six trim levels and a base MSRP of $29,995. The RS ($41,795) has an urban, nearly chrome-free appearance, while the upscale Premier ($43,895) is jam-packed with goodies. OnStar is available on all models.

The utility, cargo, capability, and drivability make this an ideal vehicle for buyers looking for a sporty, fun crossover. If that’s you, the Blazer is worth considering.
