2020 Corsair Joins The Lincoln Quiet Flight Squadron

With this week’s debut of the 2020 Corsair, Lincoln completes the revamp of its now four-strong SUV lineup. The Corsair replaces the MKC and like its predecessor, shares a platform with the Ford Escape. Changes are extensive, giving the littlest Lincoln a distinctive look that sets it apart from its brandmates.

With a dramatically sloping roofline 4.5-inches lower than the Escape and even more pronounced than the larger Aviator, the Corsair has the sportiest stance of any product from the brand. Unlike many vehicles of late, the belt-line is nearly horizontal, creating what design manager Rob Gelardi calls an anti-wedge line, a sharp look that should appeal.

Power comes from updated versions of the 2.0-liter and 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engines now mated with Ford’s new eight-speed automatic transmission. A plug-in hybrid variant should join the lineup sometime in the second half of 2020.

Like all other new Ford and Lincoln products, the Corsair gets the CoPilot 360 driver assist package as standard equipment with added capabilities like adaptive cruise control and lane centering as options.

When the Corsair goes on sale in fall 2019, drivers will also have the ability to use their smartphone as a key.
