The truck-based Lexus LX570 is a dying breed in a world of car-based crossovers. It’s ideal for larger families needing a traditional three-row SUV, or someone hauling around a lot of stuff. The ride of the LX570 is smooth and cushioned, but its heavy handling – and fuel economy - are a constant reminder of its truck roots.

The interior is well-appointed as befitting the brand, with quality leather, well-done quilting and top stitching, and ergonomically friendly dials and switches. Visibility is excellent given its high ride height and large windows. Running boards aid in ingress and egress, but the tall stance can be challenging for loading and unloading.

The Enform infotainment system is rapidly aging and lackluster. Lexus is actively working on improving it but in the meantime, it’s clunky and slow. Apple CarPlay is available, but Android Auto is not.

The LX570 is a bit of a beast to drive, frankly. It’s large, not particularly nimble, and requires a lot of space for turning. But its square shape and durability are useful for some lifestyles. With a price tag of over $100,000, there are more athletic, more user-friendly (and cheaper) luxury SUVs worthy of considering.
