There are few vehicles more iconic than the Chevrolet Corvette, a mainstay of the automotive landscape since 1953. The 2020 Corvette Stingray realizes a number of long-sought-after dreams, including a mid-engine configuration and a stunning exterior.

Every Corvette should turn heads, and this all-new version does just that. It also should drive like an icon, and this one does that too. The new LT1 naturally aspirated 6.2-liter V-8 engine is mated to one of the best dual-clutch automatic transmissions I’ve driven, so there’s no manual offered.

The wide, low stance and mid-engine means the Corvette's center of gravity is perfection. The “Z” mode allows for customization of every aspect of the driving experience, adding even more satisfaction.

The interior is well-crafted, although the center console spine, festooned with an array of control buttons, bifurcates the passengers in nearly puritanical fashion. The lack of an engine in front affords a wide expanse of frontward visibility, with the $1,500 rear camera view option key to affording the same rearward.

Whether on the track or on the road, the 2020 Corvette is one of the best super cars available and serves as an outstanding steward of the Corvette legacy – and its future.
